Isle of Islay Scotland

Islay Landscape Photos
I had the pleasure of living on the Scottish Isle of Islay for 6 years. It was a magical time and the place where our daughter grew up and went to school, in Port Charlotte. A small school, 40 pupils, a few teachers and the centre of the small community. Pure bliss!

Many know Islay from the excellent Single Malt Whiskies, there are currently 10 distilleries on the island and their numbers are increasing. Making an Islay whisky is guarantee for lots of profit as the brand Islay Sells! Fortunately Islay has a lot more to offer than just whisky. The island has some amazing beaches, a beautiful landscape and a fabulous flora and fauna. Islay is also known as Queen of the Hebrides.

You can find Islay roughly 30 miles north of Northern Ireland. There is a car ferry operated by Calmac sailing around 4 times a day from Kennacraig and the island has a small airport with two flights daily from Glasgow. There are plenty of beautiful holiday lets available as well as a few hotels.

Social Media

BlueSky is a Twitter like Social Media platform. It's relatively new and still very friendly so I choose it to post updates and (recent) photos.

You don't need an account to see the updates, you do need one if you want to comment/like or post yourself.
