The Fairy Tale of Cinderella in the East of Germany

If you’re ever visiting the beautiful city of Dresden I can highly recommend a stunning detour. 10 miles north of Dresden is a baroque fairy taile castle called “Castle Moritzburg”.

The baroque Castle “Schloss Moritzburg” is not only a feast for the eye, and camera, but for many German’s it’s best known as the place where the famous fairy tale of “Aschenbrödel” was filmed. The film is especially popular during Christmas time and is a joy to watch.

The castle itself can be visited and there are beautiful walks in the surrounding gardens. If you’re planning a visit make sure to check the official website first.

The photo at the bottom shows Cinderella’s shoe at the stairs where she lost hers when she tried to outrun the prince.
